Good to Know

A few things our guests often ask.

Yes — and proudly so. Italian cooking has always honoured vegetables. You'll find vegetarian dishes in every section of our menu, marked with a small v.

Highlights include our Burrata di Puglia, Risotto ai Funghi, Ravioli con Ricotta e Spinaci with sage butter, and Melanzane alla Parmigiana. Several dishes are also fully vegan (marked vg) — and our kitchen is happy to adapt others where possible. Just have a word with your server.

We do. Most of our antipasti, all of our secondi (with the exception of the Cotoletta alla Milanese), and several primi can be served gluten-free.

We make a fresh gluten-free pasta on request, and the kitchen takes coeliac diners seriously — separate water, separate pans, separate boards. Please mention any allergies when you book, or tell your server on arrival, so we can prepare properly.

You can reserve online through our booking page, or by telephone on 020 7946 XXXX between 11am and 10pm. We hold tables for up to 15 minutes past the booking time.

For groups of seven or more, a set menu is offered and we ask for a small deposit at the time of booking. Walk-ins are welcome at the bar most evenings — there's room for six, and a full menu is served there too.

Our list is short, considered, and entirely Italian — from a crisp Vermentino out of Sardegna to a Barolo from a small producer in Castiglione Falletto. We list everything by the glass, the carafe, and the bottle, so you can taste widely without committing to a full bottle.

Our sommelier, Marco, is on the floor every evening and is delighted to pair a wine to your meal. If you'd like to bring a special bottle of your own, our corkage is £20 per 750ml — please let us know in advance.

Very much so. We're an Italian family restaurant in spirit — children are not just welcomed, they're expected. We offer high chairs, smaller pasta portions at half price, and the kitchen is happy to make a plain plate of spaghetti al pomodoro or a simple Cotoletta for younger guests.

Sundays in particular tend to be a family service, with prams and babies and grandparents all in the room. Evenings after 8pm are typically a quieter, more grown-up affair.

Yes — but with a small caveat. We believe pasta is best eaten the moment it leaves the pan, so our takeaway list is a curated subset of the full menu: antipasti, lasagna, parmigiana, the slow-braised secondi, dolci, and bottles of wine.

Order by phone and we'll have it ready for collection in around 25 minutes. We don't currently use third-party delivery apps — we'd rather you taste the food the way we cook it.

Our private dining room — La Cantina — seats up to 18 for dinner or 24 standing. It's a vaulted brick room beneath the restaurant, perfect for birthdays, rehearsal dinners, and small wedding receptions.

For full restaurant hire, we can host up to 60 seated. Please email events@ilgusto.co.uk and our manager Elena will be in touch with menus and availability.

None at all. Come as you are — although we'll always be happier to see you in something you feel good in. The room is candlelit and the food deserves to be lingered over, so plan to stay a while.
